Renting A Pet-Friendly Beachfront Vacation Condo: What To Expect

Posted on: 14 May 2020

Traveling with a dog can pose the challenge of finding a place to stay that will be accepting of a canine guest. Thankfully, you can find beach vacation condos available that are pet-friendly. Here is a look at a few things to expect with these establishments when traveling with your dog.

Your dog may be allowed at the condo but not on the beach.

As someone who is renting a condo directly on the beach, you will likely be planning to spend a lot of your time actually on the beach. However, your dog may not actually be allowed on some beaches. Some more reserved beaches will not allow dogs on the beach as a matter of public safety. Therefore, it is best to find out whether your dog will be allowed out on the beach before you go. If not, you may want to make sure that you bring a dog crate or good leash and harness for safe-keeping at the condo while you are at the beach.

You may have to pay an extra deposit for the rental.

Most pet-friendly vacation rentals are going to charge a pet deposit. Those that do will state how much the deposit is upfront and let you know what you will need to do in order to get the deposit back. You will see some condos that will charge a non-refundable pet fee, which is a fee used to do a more thorough cleaning and sanitizing once you leave.

You can expect there to be clear rules about having your dog in the condo.

It is typical to have some house rules for those travelers who do choose to bring along their pets. You may see rules about keeping your dog off of the furniture in the house or about sweeping up any dog hair before you leave. Some condos may require that you keep the dog in a crate when it is left alone at the condo as well.

You will have to clean up any messes the dog makes outside the condo.

Naturally, taking your dog outside to go potty will be part of staying at the condo. Make sure you bring along doggy waste bags and necessities to pick up their droppings when they are done. This is typically part of the requirements you will see at a pet-friendly hotel just out of courteousness to the other guests in the area.
