Benefits Of Finding A Job In Real Estate

Posted on: 17 April 2020

Whether you are just starting out in your career or you've been in a career that you're not very fond of, it may be time to start looking for a new job. With the real estate market still booming and interest rates being extremely low, there are tons of buyers and sellers that are ready to do business. Here are a few reasons why you may want to consider studying for the exam and getting your real estate license.

You Can Work for Yourself

Even if you decide to work with a large brokerage firm, you typically get to be your own boss. While you may lend a hand to some more experienced real estate agents at first and help them with things like showings, as a real estate agent you are your own contractor which means you are in charge of your own schedule. Imagine all of the freedom you would have if you didn't have to sit at a desk from 9–5 every day. When you are a real estate agent, you can typically set your own schedule and schedule things around your showings and meeting with clients. Then, if you want to do things like take your kids to school or pick them up, you can arrange to do so.

You Can Make a Lot of Money

If you hustle and work hard, you can make a lot of money doing real estate. With every sale and purchase of a home, you should be getting about 3.5% back of the sale price. For instance, if you sell a $500k home, you will get $17,500 out of it. Imagine if you sold one $500k home a month; you would be sitting on a lot of income every year. Just remember that you will also have to pay taxes on that commission and you may have to pay fees to your real estate firm if you aren't completely solo.

You Don't Have to Go to College

If you didn't go to college right after high school and you don't want to go back as an adult, it's good to know that you don't have to have any formal education in order to get your real estate license. While you will have to take real estate classes and pass several exams, you don't need a college degree which is something that is comforting to a lot of adults.

As you can see, there are several benefits of becoming a real estate agent. If you want to learn more, reach out to some real estate agencies near you.
